Founded in 1983 in New York City by Mr. Wakayama, East Japanese Restaurant is rooted in the philosophy of Japanese casual gourmet cuisine, bringing authentic flavors to discerning guests.

Our owner-chef, raised in Japan in a restaurant family, trained in New York, Los Angeles, and Philadelphia as an executive chef within the East Group. His experience collaborating with chefs from diverse backgrounds shaped a unique culinary style that later earned him a Michelin star.

At East Japanese Restaurant, our goal is to create thoughtful, exciting hand roll sushi that blend familiar flavors with quality ingredients through our philosophy of Japanese casual gourmet cuisine.

We offer two distinct dining experiences: at the sushi bar, enjoy our Hand Roll Course served piece by piece by our chefs; at the table, enjoy a Set Menu featuring hand rolls, soba, and Japanese specialties.
